Understanding Assessment
Below is a description of the different formats that you may see your child's mark appear. For example, on report cards you will see letter grades and on most assignments you will see levels or percentages.
R - Below 50%
- Insufficient achievement of curriculum expectations
- Additional learning is required before the student will begin to achieve success with the current grade level expectations.

D - Level 1 (50% - 59%)
- Limited level of achievement
- Achievement falls below provincial standards
- Achievement falls below provincial standards
C - Level 2 (60% - 69%)
- Moderate level of achievement
- Achievement is below, but approaching the provincial standard
- Achievement is below, but approaching the provincial standard
B - Level 3 (70% - 79%)
- High level of achievement
- Achievement is at the provincial standard
- Achievement is at the provincial standard
A - Level 4 (80% - 100%)
- Very high level of achievement
- Achievement [of grade level expectations] exceeds the provincial standards
